About the project
Department of Social Services, federal government agency wanted to develop a Whole of Gov enterprise software platform to streamline the Grants administration. The platform intends to serve all funding government departments and associated fund recipients across Australia.
As a UX practitioner to lead the UX/UI activities, my key responsibilities included;
- Work closely with business analysts, product owners, developers and other multi disciplinary team members to develop design solutions using Agile methodologies in Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and Sprint environment.
- Conduct design workshops to understand the current process, user needs, and desired outcomes.
- Write user stories and conduct user story elaboration sessions to produce design hypothesis.
- Produce user flows, customer journey, conceptual design, low/high fidelity wireframe and interactive Prototype to test the design hypothesis.
- Facilitate user validation workshop to test design hypothesis using clickable Prototype.
- Produce end to end simple and intuitive user interface (UI) and visual design for the Portal
- Play key role to produce UI Framework which can be re-used across the departments and Whole of Gov projects.
- Facilitate Alpha/Beta assessment with Digital Transformation Agency.
Outcome:
- Successfully delivered end-to-end user experience, user interface, and visual design for fund recipient portal of SGA program.
- The design, usability and experience was well received by related federal agencies and over 50 reference fund recipient organisations.
- After the complete release of the project, Department expects to reduce significant amount of resource overheads, reduce grant processing time, improve accuracy, and reduce support call by 70%.
